What looks like wet pavement in our driveway is slick ice. Today we woke to about 1/4 inch of ice/snow and it's very quiet since no one is going out.

This reminds me of the time when Lester and I were newly married about 99 years ago. We were living in Germany and were going to be alone for Thanksgiving so we decided to go antiquing. Not that we had any money to buy anything but we knew we would stumble over a Van Gogh for 25 pfennings, so merrily we went. Now, you know we didn't find it or we'd all be living on the beach somewhere. On the way home, a dense fog rolled in and I spent the last hour or so of the drive leaning out the door of our little VW station wagon, trying to see the white line on the side of the road so we didn't drive OFF the road. We didn't dare stop because we would have been smashed by the next car in line. We arrived home late in the evening and had tuna sandwiches and wine for dinner. That was our second Thanksgiving together. No, our third. The first one was before we were married.

Baby news

Our next-to-the-youngest grandson, Garrison, shows off his 4 new teeth, along with a mouthful of apple and toast.
